I like the b&w version of this strip. I think it works very well, and strongly considered leaving it this way, except most Kiagi readers are hooked on color. (Which is okay, I like color too. I don't always enjoy the actual coloring, but...)

Subject: Adventures in Drawing. Time: 11:31 pm

I'm sitting here waiting for the ink to dry on tomorrow's Kiagi page. Normally I'd be more worried about finishing on time, but it contains no speech bubbles (which for some reason always take too long), and so I'm actually almost done. Sort of. What the fuck, I stay up until 3 or 4:00 these days anyway. I like drawing Kiagi with pencil and ink. I tried using my wacom for a while, and the level of control is astounding, but it didn't work for me. Not for Kiagi. However, as I've sat here drawing comic #280 or so of The Current Incarnation (because I've really been drawing Kiagi and Pris for over a decade), there's no doubt left in my mind... If I ever hope to draw professionally, I'll have to go digital. I simply don't have the raw talent to do it otherwise. Which brings me to my ultimate point: do I want to be a professional at this? Should that be my ultimate goal? If not, then what the heck do I wanna do? Sometimes I think, if not drawing, then nothing. If I don't draw comics and cartoons, then there's really nothing for me at all. I'll never be able to work a 9 to 5, do-what-you-gotta-do-because-that's-what's-expected-of-you job. Not forever. Not for the rest of my life. If I can't make this drawing gig work out, then I have nothing left. Uh, to clarify, I'm not depressed at all. I'm fine. I feel good right now. But it's time for me to get my act together, before I end up seventy years old and bagging groceries for a living. *shudder*

...here's a random headshot of a girl named "Sally". I posted earlier sketches of her on my old journal. She's the star of an, erm... adult story I'm working on, which will most likely never be linked here. I realize the colored-bangs-thing isn't too original, but I like them anyways!

Subject: Welcome Aboard Time: 10:32 pm

My friend, Todd F., has hopped aboard the Kiagi Train of Doom as co-writer. I'm still involved with plotting and such, while Todd's breaking down the story into "episodes" and handling most of the dialogue. (Well... I certainly get my two cents in. I'm rather domineering, actually). We've been collaberating for a while, and Kiagi's future is looking bright. More changes... I've drawn the last two comics with my wacom, and I plan to continue. Although I was very unhappy with Wednesday's comic, I think Friday's shows much improvement. Now if only I can adjust to the CMYK coloring... Just a sidenote: Kiagi's newsbox will be up and running again soon, so I can stop using my LJ for this stuff.

Subject: EvolBara Panel Time: 12:27 pm

Some of you know I have another comic in the works called EvolBara, created and written by Chris Layfield. I wanted to do something very different from Kiagi, and finally decided on using Flash to create the comic. It goes without saying that webcomics like ScaryGoRound were a big influence, but I've tried not to fall into the copycat trap. I'm hoping anyone who reads this will give me their opinion on this image. I know it's only one panel, but the style I'm going for is clear.

Subject: Daily Grind blah blah etc. Time: 06:36 pm

It seems to me the Daily Grind Iron Man Challenge should've set some kind of standards regarding their participants. A few of them are, to put it nicely, subpar. If I drew stick figures on white paper, I could update 20 times a week at least. I don't know exactly what "standards" they'd set or who would do the evaluating, but seriously... SERIOUSLY. Seriously.

I'm reeeeally having trouble with Friday's script. Damn diddly damn damn! Aric no likes the writey! I think I have writer's block. I've had it for weeks, in fact. Oh, sure, I *still* write. Maybe it doesn't count as a "block" since I continue to churn out comics, but I can't remember the last time I was satisfied with a joke or punchline. I can't remember *enjoying* it. TOTAL FRUSTRATION. This is why I hope my friend can take over the scripting chores soon. Seriously soon. Like RIGHT THIS FUCKING MINUTE. No pressure, Todd. And so ends today's LJ bitchfest.
